Backstage Custom Cases
Using the “Carlo” brand and Construction Method
What differentiates a particular brand of ATA shipping case from another? While color and a particular type of tongue and groove may come to mind, The Backstage Custom Cases have a more basic advantage; they are over thirty percent lighter and have a higher strength to weight ratio than any of their laminated wood competitors.
Backstage Custom Cases achieve this by utilizing a unique combination of materials and patented construction methods. Instead of plywood and laminated sheet product, our cases employ Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) which is a product comprised of two aluminum sheets laminated to a polyethylene core. This panel material is captured by a custom extruded aluminum angle that embraces the ACM panel on both inside and out (The Posi-Lock System). Once we rivet through all three surfaces, the result is a finished product that is impervious to moisture, resists abuse, while delivering a higher strength to weight ratio than any other “traditional” construction methods. All of the latching, hinge, and rolling hardware is of the highest quality made from 12/16 steel.
To provide further value the interiors of our cases are lined with 180-80 high density foam and generally covered with Ozite for appearance and durability. Should you desire an upgraded interior finish, crushed velour is available in a wide range of colors.
However, our construction methods are only as good as the supervision of our staff. All of the supervisory Backstage Staff are experienced in the rigors of the road, and understand the importance of cases that fit in trucks, on air cargo pallets, and will move efficiently while on tour. So, our design and construction process is overseen by those with “Been There – Done That” field experience.
